Growing up near the Cognac region in France, Roland Bru had always had an appreciation for fine cognacs. As he grew older, this appreciation turned to enthusiasm and then to passion. From this passion, came his vision and dream for one day creating the world’s finest cognac.
Roland Bru took the first step of turning his dream into reality in 1955, when he acquired a small cognac distillery in the hamlet of Moisans, in Sireuil, in the heart of the Cognac region. He developed and grew the business, turning it into a supplier for several prestigious cognac labels. He also reinvested to update the facilities and operations, and to acquire additional land in the most premium regions of Cognac in order to have access to the most desirable grapes.
Although his business grew rapidly, Roland Bru never gave up on his dream of creating his own range of premium cognacs. He made a few attempts over the years with various product launches - Roland Bru cognac was even served aboard UTA airline in the 1960s - but was never fully satisfied and constantly pushed the bar higher. He decided that to make the best cognac in the world, he would have to be more patient. He began putting aside some of his finest, aged eaux-de-vie to let them age and mature even longer. And he waited.
His patience and vision for the future have finally culminated in the release of the present Roland Bru Cognac range, a line of premium blended cognacs worthy of the man Roland Bru was, and of his spirit which has inspired us all.
The Moisans Distillery has been a family-owned and operated company for three generations.
