The clear spirit resulting from double distillation does not yet have the right to be called cognac. It has to be aged for a minimum of two years to earn the appellation of cognac. Our cognacs are aged exclusively in oak barrels, made uniquely of trees coming from the forest of Tronçais in the Limousin region.
The magic of cognac really happens during the ageing in oak casks. Here, through the continuous exchange between ambient air and wood, it takes on its sublime colours and refines its bouquet.
All Roland Bru cognacs are naturally aged in our six ancient cellars on the bank of the Charente River. Here, exceptionally propitious conditions of temperature and humidity let our cognacs develop their unique personality at leisure, never less than 4 years.
Year-round, our Master Blender controls and tastes each of our barrels, and evaluates the potential of our eaux-de-vie, for further ageing or for immediate blending.
